Boston, Massachusetts – The Foundation of Indian-Americans (FIA)–New England to announcee the 5th International India Day Parade, one of New England’s largest celebrations of India’s Independence, its cultural heritage, and the enduring friendship between India and the United States.
The grand celebration will take place on Sunday, August 9, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM at Christopher Columbus Park, 100 Atlantic Avenue, Boston, Massachusetts.
This year’s parade will proudly celebrate the 79th Anniversary of India’s Independence under the inspiring theme:
“Festival of Freedom & U.S.-India Friendship”

The parade will feature 15 colorful floats and vibrant cultural program, with participation of various community organizations, veterans, first responders, and thousands of participants representing the rich diversity of the Indian-American community across New England.
The Grand Marshals for this historic celebration are:
- Colonel Inder Preet (IP) Singh, Yudh Seva Medal (Veteran), an outstanding military leader whose distinguished service continues to inspire generations.
- Ms. Maggie Lehman, a U.S. Navy Intelligence Specialist, being recognized for her dedicated service and commitment to the nation.
The event’s Chief Guest will be:
Shri Raghuram S. Sastry, the first Consul General of India, Boston, whose presence marks another historic milestone in strengthening India-U.S. relations and supporting the growing Indian-American community in New England.
During a joint planning meeting, FIA-New England Executive Director Deepak Rathore shared that this year’s parade will be the largest and the most vibrant edition yet, celebrating freedom, democracy, cultural diversity, and strong partnership between the United States and India.
The organizers expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Honorable Governor Maura Healey of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for issuing a proclamation announcing August 15, 2026 to be observed as “India Day” in Massachusetts for the fifth consecutive year. FIA-New England’s leadership noted that the Governor’s “India Day” proclamation has become a cherished tradition and recognizes the immense contributions of the Indian-American community to the Commonwealth.
Following the parade, the celebrations will continue at Christopher Columbus Park with:

- Spectacular Cultural Performances by renowned dance and music groups
- Community and Nonprofit Organization Exhibits
- Vendor Marketplace
- Festival of Indian Cuisine featuring a wide variety of authentic Indian delicacies presented by The Treasury Restaurant of Burlington, Massachusetts
- Food Gift Cards and special giveaways for parade participants, registered children, and senior citizens
