
Chicago, IL — May 25, 2026: Indian-American Community Pays Tribute to America’s Fallen Heroes with Patriotic Unity and Respect.The Federation of Indian Associations (FIA Estd. 1980) Chicago proudly represented Bharat during the prestigious Memorial Day Parade held in Arlington Heights on Monday, May 25, 2026. The emotionally moving event brought together veterans, civic leaders, community organizations, and residents in remembrance of America’s fallen military heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.
Arlington Heights, a community deeply rooted in patriotism and national pride, has itself sacrificed 67 brave heroes in service to the United States. Against this solemn backdrop, FIA-Chicago joined the parade to honor the spirit of sacrifice, courage, and freedom while showcasing the Indian-American community’s deep respect and gratitude toward American servicemen and women.
Memorial Day serves as a powerful reminder to remember and honor those who gave their lives protecting the freedoms enjoyed today. Community leaders emphasized that the day is not merely a long holiday weekend, but a sacred occasion of reflection, gratitude, and tribute to the brave individuals whose sacrifices continue to safeguard the future of generations to come.

Leading the Indian-American delegation was FIA President and Founder & President of the Sanatan Ecosystem, Hemant Patel, alongside several prominent community leaders and representatives from various organizations. The FIA-Chicago contingent included FIA Trustee Rakesh Malhotra representing Sewa International and Global Indian Diaspora; Rajendra Thakkar from Shree Jalaram Mandir; Dipali Sawant and her dedicated team from Maharashtra Mandal; FIA Executive and OF-BJP Coordinator Amar Upadhyay; entrepreneur Sanjay Vora representing Ekal Vidyalaya and Vishva Hindu Parishad of America; FIA Executive Anil Singh representing Karni Sena; FIA Executive Yashaswini Desai from Hindu Women Network; as well as respected community leaders Yogesh Patel, Kishor Vora, and Dixit Vora.
One of the most memorable and emotional highlights of the parade was the proud participation of Indian Army Brigadier Navin Ahuja and Indian Army veteran Arvind Ankleshwaria of Shree Hanuman Mandir, who is also an FIA Executive member. Their presence symbolized the strong bond of patriotism shared by both India and the United States and became a moment of immense pride for the Bharatiya community.
The parade organizing committee honored active-duty personnel, veterans, and retired officials in remembrance of America’s fallen heroes. The recognition and honoring of Indian Army veterans during the ceremony touched the hearts of attendees and generated tremendous appreciation from the broader community. FIA-Chicago received special praise for bringing Indian Army veterans to participate in this important patriotic event.
Sponsors including MAFS, UMAS, and Care for Soul also joined and supported the occasion, further strengthening the spirit of unity and community service displayed throughout the event.
