
SCHAUMBURG, Ill., April 18, 2026 — More than 1,000 members of the Bharatiya Senior Citizens of Chicago gathered for a vibrant evening of music and culture at the “Gujarati Dhamaal” concert held at the India Hub in Schaumburg.
The program opened with remarks from BSC Secretary Rakshika Anjaria, who briefed attendees on upcoming community events. The concert was presented by Manpasand National Promoter Bhavana Modi and featured performances by visiting singers Disha Patel and Sanket Patel from India.
The artists captivated the audience with traditional Gujarati folk songs, including compositions by noted folklorist Jhaverchand Meghani such as “Aswar Mavdi Chand Kaho,” along with popular garba and other folk melodies. Their performances drew enthusiastic responses from the largely senior audience, many of whom joined in singing along to the familiar tunes.

The evening was emceed by Jigna Gandhi, whose engaging and well-paced presentation added to the program’s appeal and helped maintain a lively atmosphere throughout.
During the event, former U.S. Congresswoman and Illinois Democratic nominee for the 8th District, Melissa Bean, was welcomed on stage with a floral reception by TV Asia Chicago Bureau Chief Vandana Jhingan, BSC President Haribhai Patel, and community leader Vinesh Virani. In brief remarks, Bean thanked the community and encouraged attendees to participate in the upcoming November election.
The program concluded with a community dinner, allowing attendees to socialize and celebrate the evening’s cultural showcase.
