Global – August 7, 2025 — ZEE5 Global, the world’s leading streaming platform for South Asian content available in over 190 countries, has announced its entry into the Malayalam market with Kammatam, a gripping crime thriller inspired by one of Thrissur’s most controversial real-life incidents. The six-episode investigative series, produced by 23 Feet Productions and directed by Shan Thulasidharan, is set to premiere on August 29, 2025, exclusively on ZEE5 Global.
Based on a true story that shook Kerala and the nation, Kammatam unravels a chilling murder mystery woven with betrayal, silence, and moral conflict. Sudev Nair delivers a powerful performance in the lead role, supported by an ensemble cast including Jins, Jeo Baby, Ajay Vaasudev, Akhil Kavalayoor, Arun Sol, Sreerekha, and Jordy Poonjaa.
The plot follows the death of planter Samuel Umman in what appears to be a road accident. Circle Inspector Antonio George suspects foul play after noticing a missing necklace at the scene. His investigation leads to Shaji, an auto driver with a criminal past, who is later found dead in a quarry. A mysterious two-wheeler at a construction site hints at deeper intrigue, and the trail eventually points to Francis, a quiet worker from Samuel’s plantation. As Antonio delves deeper, he uncovers a dark web of deceit and long-buried secrets.
