Hicksville, NY – July 2025| The Women’s Council of the American Punjabi Society (APS) is set to host a community Blood Donation Camp on Sunday, August 10, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 4:00 PM at Asa Mai Hindu Temple in Hicksville, New York. This health-focused initiative reaffirms the organization’s dedication to public service and community engagement.
The event is being led by Navneet K. Sondhi, Chairperson of the Women’s Council, and will take place in collaboration with four respected partners: AAPI-QLI (American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin – Queens Long Island), AsaMai Temple, New York Cancer and Blood Specialists, and the New York Blood Center.
The initiative is being guided under the leadership of APS Global President Gary Sikka, along with the organization’s executive team including Senior Vice President Mohinder S. Taneja, General Secretary Virender PS Sikka, and Vice Presidents Paul S. Bindra, Ajayvir S. Sondhi, Ravinder PS Narang, and Jaspal S. Arora. Medical oversight for the camp will be provided by Dr. Tarun Wasil, member of the APS Medical Advisory Council. Media and outreach efforts are being coordinated by Pradeep Tandon, Director of Media and Public Relations.
Reflecting on the success of last year’s blood drive, which drew 47 donors despite an initial goal of 25, organizers are optimistic about even stronger participation this year. The 2024 event had to be extended by two hours due to overwhelming turnout, demonstrating the community’s deep commitment to health causes.
“This blood donation camp is a small yet impactful way to give back to our community and help save lives,” said APS President Gary Sikka. “We encourage everyone who is eligible to come forward and donate.”
Open to all community members, the event also aims to raise awareness about the critical importance of blood donation, particularly during times when supplies at local blood banks often run low. APS leaders say the event will serve not only as a health campaign but also as an opportunity to strengthen social bonds and cultural solidarity within the diverse Long Island community.
