Streamwood, IL — Nestled quietly in the heart of Streamwood, Illinois, lies a remarkable gem that has become the town’s primary cultural and spiritual attraction — *Vedic Wellness International University (IUVW)*. On July 29, 2025, I had the privilege of touring this vibrant and unique institution at the invitation of its dedicated Manager, Smt. Deepti Ben Shah.
As I approached the university, I was greeted by a striking sight: a lingam of Lord Mahadev gracing the main entrance — a powerful symbol of devotion and tranquility. Inside, the ceiling dazzles with a colorful display of international flags, setting the tone for a truly global and inclusive atmosphere.
The soothing sound of a grand indoor water fountain adds a layer of serenity, offering visitors a peaceful, almost musical ambiance as they walk through the space. The university’s cultural center is a sight to behold — a state-of-the-art auditorium that seats over 400 people, complete with a modern sound system and LED screen, ideal for staging theatrical performances and community events.

Culinary needs are also met with efficiency and care; the university boasts a commercial-grade kitchen capable of preparing meals for 400 individuals — a hub for hospitality during large gatherings.
During my visit, I had the honor of meeting **Dr. Pushpa Ben**, an accomplished Ayurvedic therapist whose expertise enriches the university’s wellness offerings. The second floor reveals even more: a sprawling yoga hall fitted with mats for 400 practitioners, a dedicated Bharatnatyam and dance studio, a spacious conference room, and a library filled with diverse books covering ancient wisdom to modern practices.
Another highlight was the university’s **Award Room**, showcasing accolades that speak to its growing influence in cultural education and holistic health. I also met **Eva Contractor**, a warm and talented art teacher who offers painting classes for senior citizens — a testament to IUVW’s dedication to lifelong learning and community care.
