The US Indian Community Foundation is a platform dedicated to celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the Indian community in the United States while strengthening ties with India.

The United States, long celebrated as a mosaic of diverse cultures, is home to more than 2.2 million Hindus—around 0.7% of the total population—who form one of the most successful immigrant groups in the country. With high levels of education, entrepreneurship, and professional excellence, the Indian diaspora continues to enrich American society and foster global connections.

Indian Americans remain deeply connected to their homeland. This “India in the Heart” bond is the very foundation of USICF’s mission—to serve as a bridge of identity, belonging, and service between the diaspora and India, organizers say. The Foundation’s initiatives ensure that the community’s love for Indian culture, traditions, and values is preserved for future generations, while also advancing India’s progress and India–US collaboration.
The Chief Guest was Indian Member of Parliament Parshottam Rupala. Another VIP was India’s Consul General in Chicago Somnath Ghosh. Prominent leaders from the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA), ABVP, cultural organizations, elected officials, and faith-based associations, also attended.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Bharat Barai, Chairman of USICF, set the tone. “This celebration is not only about honoring the 75th birthday of Prime Minister Modi ji, but also about recognizing the extraordinary contributions of the Indian diaspora in strengthening India–US relations. The Foundation’s mission is to preserve our culture, deepen our engagement, and create platforms where India and America can work together for a brighter future.”
Indian MP Rupala, addressing the gathering, praised Prime Minister Modi’s transformative leadership and the global admiration he commands. He stated:
“Prime Minister Modi has redefined India’s global identity with his unwavering commitment to development, transparency, and cultural pride. The Indian diaspora, especially here in the United States, plays a crucial role in amplifying India’s voice on the world stage. This celebration is a testament to that enduring bond.”
Consul General Ghosh echoed the sentiment, adding:“It is heartening to see the Indian-American community come together in such strength and spirit to honor Prime Minister Modi. Events like these reflect the deep-rooted connection between India and its diaspora, and the shared vision for a prosperous and united future.”
The evening included cultural performances, musical tributes, and heartfelt reflections from community leaders. Messages of pride and unity poured in from across Chicagoland’s Indian-American organizations, celebrating Prime Minister Modi’s leadership and the achievements of the diaspora.
Attendees honored Dr. Barai for his four decades of service, noting his pivotal role in organizing large-scale diaspora events in Chicago, Washington D.C., New York, and beyond, which have brought together Indian Americans in unity, celebration, and collective action.
The evening concluded with a ceremonial cake-cutting and prayers for Prime Minister Modi’s health and continued leadership.
