
Balochistan [Pakistan], March 13 (ANI): Fresh allegations of enforced disappearances have emerged from multiple districts of Balochistan, where several individuals have reportedly been taken into custody by Pakistani security forces in recent days, intensifying concerns about the ongoing human rights situation in the region.
At least nine individuals were allegedly detained from different areas of the province. Subsequently, they disappeared, while six others who had previously been taken into custody were later released, as reported by The Balochistan Post.
According to The Balochistan Post, local accounts indicate that on the night of March 10, security personnel reportedly conducted a raid in the Panwan locality of Jiwani in Gwadar district. During the operation, Qambar, the son of Imam Baloch, was allegedly detained and taken to an undisclosed location.
His family says there has been no information about his whereabouts since the incident. On the same night, another resident of the area, Zaim, son of Muhammad Raheem, was also reportedly picked up and remains missing. A day later, Khalid Habib, son of Habibullah, was reportedly detained by security forces from the Josak Sari Kahn area of Turbat in Kech district and transferred to an unknown place.
Similar claims have surfaced from Panjgur district, where Jasif, son of Arif, was reportedly apprehended in the Tasp area and later disappeared. Additional incidents were reported from other parts of the province as well.
In Quetta, Nabi Bakhsh Baloch, son of Behram Baloch, was allegedly taken from his residence in the Killi Qambrani neighbourhood and moved to an undisclosed location. Meanwhile, in Noshki district, Mudassir, son of Faizullah, was reportedly detained from the Killi Jamaldini area and has not been seen since.
At the same time, several detainees who had previously been taken into custody were reportedly released in separate incidents. Kaleemullah, son of Asadullah from Khudabadan in Panjgur district, was reportedly freed at Hub Chowki, as highlighted by The Balochistan Post.
Similarly, Zahid, son of Abdul Rehman from Jiwani, was released on February 26 after being detained earlier. Two other residents of Jiwani, Adnan and Ahsan, both sons of Dil Murad, were reportedly released. In another case, Abdul Wahab, son of Abdul Ghani and a resident of Greshag in Khuzdar district, was reportedly released in Lahore following his detention.
Families of the missing individuals have urged international human rights organisations to intervene and press for the safe recovery of those who remain unaccounted for, as reported by The Balochistan Post. (ANI)
