
The Indian Consulate in New York hosted a Roundtable on Business & Investment Opportunities in Assam with the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum, USISPF.
Dr. Ravi Kota, Chief Secretary, Govt. of Assam, and India’s Consul General Binaya S. Pradhan shared “valuable insights” with industry leaders, according to a post on X July 3, 2025.
The event highlighted Assam’s immense potential in trade, tourism, and investment. Chef Vikas Khanna was among the high profile guests to speak at the event.
A successful B2B Buyer-Seller Meet specifically showcased the legacy and global potential of Assam Tea. In a series of events for celebration of 200 years of Assam Tea, the Indian Consulate organized a meeting for major producers and suppliers of Assam Tea with prominent Tea buyers of the US. Dr. Ravi Kota, Chief Secretary, Govt of Assam, and Consul (Trade) attended the event and provided the details and specialty of Assam tea. Arijit Raha, Secretary of the Indian Tea Association provided the historical perspective of India-US Tea Trade and introduced all the Indian Tea companies.

Tea tasting sessions were also organized where tea experts and tea sommeliers gave the tea experience to the attendees.
“The event fostered valuable connections between Indian producers and US buyers, strengthening trade ties,” the Consulate said in its post.
