The Gujarati diaspora in the US enjoyed an evening of laughter when the comedy play, Manubhai Mind Blowing, launched its tour on May 2, 2025, in Chicago. The play featured Bollywood’s Sharman Joshi, a stellar cast, dedicated sponsors, and a narrative steeped in Gujarati culture.
The play is an exploration of marriage, mischief, and misunderstandings, written by Imtiaz Patel, directed by Jaideep Shah, and produced by Aasif Patel. The story follows Manubhai, a well-meaning husband trying to spice up his married life with Kishori, sending life into a chaos of missteps. That includes venturing into botched attempt at an affair with his receptionist Chandni, on the advice of his quirky assistant, Madan. The plot is a whirlwind of blackmail, mistaken identities, and hilarious confrontations.
Joining Sharman Joshi are Aakash Zala as the scheming Madan, Arpita Sethia as the sharp-witted Kishori, and others – Hardik Sangani, Pritesh Sodha, Mahek Bhatt, and Tejas Shah.
“Bringing Manubhai Mind Blowing to Chicago is a dream come true. The Gujarati community’s warmth fuels our performance, and I can’t wait to share this laughter-filled journey,” Sharman Joshi is quoted saying in an Asian Media news release.
