Hillsborough, NJ – The Asian American Republican Coalition (AARC), in collaboration with the Hillsborough Maharaja Club (HMC), hosted a 4th of July event marking the 249th Independence Day of the United States. The program was held in Hillsborough and attended by a diverse group of community members, local leaders, and elected officials.

The event featured Chief Guest Mayor John Ciccarelli and Guest of Honor Deputy Mayor Catherine Payne of Hillsborough Township. Both officials highlighted the growing contributions of the Asian American community—particularly Indian Americans—to the township’s development and cultural fabric.
The gathering opened with the U.S. national anthem, performed by Chip Kolbjornsen, followed by remarks underscoring the significance of civic participation and democratic values. Hemant Bhatt, Founder and Chairman of AARC, welcomed attendees and emphasized the community’s commitment to American ideals.

“This gathering is not just a celebration of independence,” Bhatt stated. “It reflects how Asian American communities are engaged and invested in the future of this country.”

Vivek Rao, Founder and CEO of HMC, served as Master of Ceremonies. He introduced speakers including Ankur Vaidya, Chairman of the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA), who referenced FIA’s annual India Day Parade in New York as an example of cultural engagement and civic pride.
Sanjiv Pandya, AARC founding member and media professional, provided historical context on American independence and the founding vision of the United States. Additional speakers included Chandra Mohan, CEO of TV9, and Rishi Prabhakar of AXRIA Realty, both of whom addressed the importance of freedom and community involvement.
Chris Venis, President of the Hillsborough Republican Club, and John Vrtaric, Chairman of the Woodbridge Township Republican Organization, were also present in support of the event.
AARC and HMC acknowledged the support of Media Group, AXRIA Realty, and several volunteers who contributed to organizing the event. Special thanks were extended to Srikanth, Chandra Mohan, Aashis and Adi, as well as Ashish Raval, Manisha Bhatt, Dilip Bhatt, Shrenik Talati, Jasubhai Brahmbhatt, and others.
The event concluded with a community lunch and informal networking among attendees.
