Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], October 30 (ANI): Ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s key address to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State Working Committee meeting in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Friday expressed strong confidence that Shah’s organisational guidance would pave the way for a historic third consecutive term for the party in the 2027 State Assembly elections.
Welcoming the Union Minister’s presence at the crucial leadership gathering, Maurya highlighted Amit Shah’s long-standing strategic focus on Uttar Pradesh as pivotal to the party’s electoral dominance in the state over the last decade.
“After the formation of the party organisation, with his continuous focus on Uttar Pradesh, we have achieved a great victory, and I have full confidence that his address in the State Working Committee today will give far-reaching results and will help in forming the BJP government for the third time in 2027 with an overwhelming majority,” UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya told ANI.
The State Working Committee meeting brings together top state leadership, district heads, and key office-bearers to outline organisational strategies, review grassroots outreach programs, and set targets for the upcoming assembly polls in 2027.
As former party president and chief electoral architect for UP in previous election cycles, Amit Shah’s visits to Lucknow serve as major mobilisation points for party cadre across all 75 districts.
After securing back-to-back majorities in 2017 and 2022 under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the BJP is seeking to solidify its governance footprint in India’s most populous state for a third successive tenure.
Union Minister of State Jitin Prasada said senior party leaders and workers would attend the meeting and receive guidance from Shah on the party’s future strategy.
“Today, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is arriving here. Senior leaders and workers will come here today. We will receive guidance from Home Minister Amit Shah, and there will be a discussion on the future strategy,” Prasada said.
BJP Rajya Sabha MP Prakash Pal also described Shah’s visit as an important occasion for the party, saying workers would receive his guidance at the state working committee meeting.
Speaking to ANI, Pal said, “Today, Home Minister Amit Shah, former National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, and a key strategist in politics, is arriving in Lucknow. We will receive his guidance at the State Working Committee meeting today. Since noon, the momentum in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party has intensified from a mere breeze into a full-blown storm.”
Uttar Pradesh Minister Vijay Laxmi Gautam said the BJP remained active among people throughout its five-year term and did not limit its public outreach to election periods.
Speaking to ANI, Gautam said, “Our party does not engage with the public only during election periods; we remain active on the ground for the entire five-year term, serving the people and carrying out various initiatives. It is during this ongoing process that our elections and the meeting of our State Working Committee are taking place. Our Home Minister will be attending this, and we will certainly follow whatever guidance or directives he provides.”
The Uttar Pradesh unit of the BJP is holding its state working committee meeting on Friday, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah scheduled to participate, as the party prepares its organisational roadmap ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
Ahead of the meeting, the party held a meeting of its state office-bearers at the UP BJP headquarters on Thursday to finalise the agenda, key issues and other preparations for the state working committee meeting. (ANI)
