New Delhi [India], August 25 (ANI): An encounter broke out between the Delhi Police Crime Branch and a criminal last night, with several rounds of firing exchanged from both sides, officials said on Tuesday.
Following the encounter, the accused, a resident of Meerut, was subsequently apprehended by the Crime Branch team. He did not sustain any bullet injuries during the operation, and no police personnel or civilians were injured in the incident.
According to the police, the accused is a history-sheeter allegedly involved in several criminal cases, including a firing incident in Delhi’s Chhawla area as well as murder-related offences.
The Crime Branch had received specific intelligence regarding the movement of the accused towards Delhi. Acting on the information, a police team laid a trap near the loop connecting Mayur Vihar towards Akshardham.
As soon as the accused was spotted, the Crime Branch team surrounded him. During the interception, several rounds were fired from both sides, after which the police team overpowered and apprehended the accused.
Crime Branch officials are currently interrogating the accused, with further investigation into the case underway
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, the Cyber Police Station of Delhi Police’s Central District has busted a fake airline job racket allegedly operating in the name of ‘Bretish Airways’ and Future Wings Learning Institute, apprehending six persons, including the alleged mastermind, his associate, a website developer and three tele-callers, police said on Monday.
According to police, the accused allegedly targeted job aspirants through fake websites and social media advertisements, offering jobs at the Indira Gandhi International Airport and demanding Rs 7,000 to Rs 10,000 as fake admission or registration fees for aviation-related courses.
During the investigation, police conducted technical analysis of mobile numbers, IPDR and broadband details, payment trails, UPI transactions, bank accounts and website registration details.
The accused were traced to Noida, Uttar Pradesh, police said. Sandeep Kumar and his associate Akhil Kumar were arrested on August 18. During interrogation and further technical investigation, the police identified the alleged website developer and three tele-callers involved in the racket.
The accused have been identified as Sandeep Kumar, 23, of Greater Noida, the alleged operator and mastermind; Akhil Kumar, 27, of Moradabad, his alleged 50-50 partner; Rakesh Kumar, 47, of Greater Noida West, an alleged website developer; and three women identified as Shweta, Sapna and Sakshi, who allegedly worked as tele-callers.
